From its founding in 1829, Burr and Burton has been an independent academy serving as the local high school for area students while attracting students from outside the state for its rigorous educational standards and the excellence of the faculty. Situated at the foot of Mt. Equinox and overlooking picturesque Manchester Village, Burr and Burton is a school with a proud tradition of educating students of diverse backgrounds and talents in a warm and caring environment that encourages excellence and community.
A three night, off-trail expedition into the Peru Peak Wilderness area. The headwaters of Jones Brook, the Otter Creek and the Battenkill all originate in the mountains behind our school. Traveling in three groups to minimize our impact, our students explore the watersheds, continue practicing their interpretation of our landscape history, and travel to some remote and wild places. The physical, emotional and intellectual challenges help expose the geographical and metaphorical meanings of a watershed.Read More
